Vacuum Pots

I've been using a Cory vacuum pot for a years now. It's from the 60s, I think, and has a rubber gasket. During WWII when rubber was rationed, they made one that mated with 2 milled glass surfaces and a drop of water. I had one that I gave as a gift (and was smashed in rage... a crime, if you ask me). Anyway, I LOVE the coffee that comes from my Cory. I keep a Sunbeam C30 Coffeemaster in my office to treat people in my department and it even makes a great pot of coffee with even some cheap Sam's Club coffee.

Anyway, I agree about the quality of coffee that comes out of these pots, people who know and enjoy coffee often greet it with a "wow." But I got into vacuum brewing because of graduate school, the need for caffeine, along with a general dislike for coffee. I thought that if I was going to drink it, I should make it the best that I could and, boyhowdy, does a good vacuum pot deliver.

With both the sunbeam and the Cory, there is *no* overhead cost because of the metal mesh and glass filters (respectively), and yes, the glass cory is very nice to watch. Like a Javalamp :)
