I've spent years messing with different brewing techniques. I have tried every type of filter and every type of ground and every temperature and every brewing duration and every type of roast I could possibly try. I just can't seem to get the clean and floral brew that all of the cafes produce with their industrial machines. I don't know what it is about them but they're just clearly superior to anything I have ever produced from home and unfortunately it's too expensive for me to go buy 4 $2 drip coffees every day. In Seattle, that's what a drip has come to cost thanks to Starbucks who created MORE than market saturation in the area; effectively making it difficult for the many small coffeehouses to sell drinks for any less. There are many fine roasterias up here (10 that I could name off the top of my head) of many different styles and flavours. . . I just can't get from their beans what I get from their machines.
I am a over the road trucker. I roast and grind my own coffee at home. I usually am gone for a week at a time. I am wondering if there is a way to brew at home and take the brewed coffee with me and keep it fresh for a week. I have a microwave and refrigerator freezer in my truck.
Home brewed coffee upsets my stomach. I seem to be able to buy any commerically brewed cup (form Starbucks to 7-Eleven) without experiencing the same stomach upset?
What is going on??????

Hi all,
I'm new to Coffeefaq.com and my first question is which coffee retail outlet in your opinion is the best coffee retail outlet?
My second question is on instant coffee. Water or milk first? I've always poured the water in first, but I know many would disagree. This is an issue I have at work everytime I offer to make a round of coffee's.............................
I recently went to Italy and bought some coffee to being back for some friends. However i believe the coffee is meant for an Italian Moka machine. I asked the woman in the shop if it can be used in Amercan drip coffee machines but she didnt speak or understand much engligh and just replied yes. But now some one has told me that it can't! Is this true? Can the grinds meant for a moka machine not be used in the american drip coffee machines? I dont know anytihng about coffee so i wanted to find out if they could use it here in the US before i gave it to them.
Thanks!
